New Moon in Scorpio

A new moon cycle commences on monday november 16th at 11:14am PST with the new moon in scorpio. this is an intense new moon and the dark moon that precedes it stretches throughout the via combusta of the zodiac (15 libra to 15 scorpio) taking us through the ‘fiery way’ and activating a lot of emotional and psychic energy. seeing as the saturn/pluto square is exact a day before this new moon, we can see this ushering in of a new moon cycle as an initiation of what the saturn/pluto energy is going to be for each of us personally and collectively.

The new moon falls at 24′34 scorpio, a sign governed by pluto- the lord of the underworld. new moons are times of initiation and beginnings. the sun and moon are at the same degree- which makes the moon appear as just a sliver in the sky. the conscious self (sun) and the unconscious (moon) are in complete alignment and symbolically join together to create something- hence the new
beginning. It is not until the full moon when we see the fruits of our new beginnings, but it is at this time that the seed is planted. In scorpio the seeds being planted have to do with death and rebirth, transformation, regeneration, and healing. like the phoenix rising out of the ashes, a scorpio new moon has the energy of starting anew after dying to the old. the saturn/pluto square factors into this new moon chart- so the destruction of the old in our lives has everything to do with that aspect playing out in our
charts.

The saturn/pluto square is in the new moon chart but does not aspect the sun or moon directly (mathematically speaking), but because the square occurs on Sunday and the new moon is a day later the impact of it can be felt in the chart. saturn in libra is bringing significant lessons in relationship, balance, and connection the Divine Feminine that require maturity, commitment, discipline and responsibility. pluto in capricorn is destroying, transforming and regenerating structures we’ve built in our lives and in our world that relate to business, government, finance, and our relationship
to the archetypal Father within and without. the two in tough aspect create a need for breakdowns, endings, destruction of the old, in order to make room for the new. many are feeling this energy as an aggravation, irritation, stuckness, smoldering stopped up energy within ready to explode. some feel this internally, others are experiencing it externally. you can see it in the world around us-the recent shootings are just one example (and a sad one at that). The purpose of this aspect is to destroy and/or transform (pluto)
structures (saturn), relationship patterns and/or relationships that no longer serve our growth (libra), and the relationship between the
masculine (capricorn) and the feminine (libra) within and without. These two energetic principles of masculine and feminine MUST be in harmonious relationship with each other in order for the whole organism to be healthy. be that a person, a country, a planet or a Universe, the polarity of masculine and feminine must be in balance. having one outgrow the other is a recipe for disaster! saturn/pluto is here to destroy any shaky foundations that are based on extremes that are at the expense of the whole.

In addition to the saturn/pluto square’s prominence in the chart we have the sun/moon conjunction aspected by several planets. first of all the new moon is cojoined with mercury who just moved into sagittarius. although mercury is in scorpio’s neighboring sign, he is only 7 degrees apart from the sun/moon conjunction and as such is seen as conjunct the new moon. this brings in the energy of the conscious mind and intellect into play at this new moon. we’ve been having a VERY active mercury week this week (i am writing this on
thursday night) which has been bringing in information,communication, insights, and awareness of all kinds! conversations with others have been profound- pointing you in a direction you may not have seen before. mercury’s conjunction to the new moon shows that communication is key. speaking your new moon intentions help manifest what you intend. giving voice to your thoughts helps concretize them and give them life. make sure you choose your words wisely though- as our manifestation ability is high right now (and
seems to be increasing as we move ever closer to 2012) and what you reap you definitely will sow! so use awareness and clarity of purpose when creating with your thoughts and words.

the new moon is also square to the triple conjunction of jupiter, neptune and chiron- all dancing together in aquarius. this triple conjunction is bringing a massive opportunity for spiritual healing, awakening and enlightenment- often by way of activating painful old wounds through which we are asked to move through and heal. it is this path of the wounded healer that is activating our opportunity for awakening and enlightenment because it is by having empathy and compassion for the self and others that we are able to become more heart centered beings. and what better way to get centered in the
heart than to have it torn open? does that sound horrific? read some

by going into the pain we transform through it. that is the point of the triple conjunction. and moving through it is what brings the potential for enlightenment so this triple conjunction is squaring the new moon showing that where ever this conjunction is falling in our individual charts (or world charts) is factoring into our new beginnings (check your weekly horoscopes for more info). the push pull between scorpio and aquarius, water and air, emotion and intellect, soul and mind- can be felt in this new moon. going deeply into your experience, into your Shadow (scorpio’s lair) helps you to heal and awaken and understand Oneness. we all have Shadow. we all
have wounds. we all are imperfectly perfect. this new moon brings an opportunity for you to own all of that. and from a place of wholeness, rather than perfection, you can create.

this new moon is also trine uranus in pisces, aligning our new beginnings with the awakening quality of uranus. uranus brings liberation, freedom, change, and excitement. uranus’ harmonious aspect to the new moon supports us starting something completely new, going into uncharted territory, going into the soul deeper and further than ever before! what is begun now can catapult you on a whole new path- the potential is huge! but you have to be in the
flow with radical, revolutionary, rebellious uranus to reap the benefits. this is a time to make BIG changes- the kind you’ve been dreaming about. taking chances that are aligned with your intuition will take you far.

And last but not least this new moon is sextile the north node in capricorn, aligning what is begun at this new moon with our path of growth and destiny. the north node in capricorn asks that we take responsibility for ourselves and that we integrate on an inner level the archetypal Father we are in search of without. owning ourselves, providing for ourselves, and taking care of ourselves is the lesson of north node in capricorn. this new moon in scorpio, pluto’s sign, is in harmonious aspect with the capricorn node, saturn’s sign-which echoes the saturn/pluto square i spoke of above. any breakdowns that occur right now are able to be transformed into breakthroughs. staying in alignment with your soul’s journey necessitates letting go of the past- and this new moon can help you do it.

one last note and i will wrap this up! the sabian symbol for the new moon degree is ‘an x-ray photograph’. this symbol echoes the scorpio energy- the ability to see through things, see to the heart of them,
get to the Truth beneath the facade. use this x-ray energy on
yourself and see yourself clearly. it is easy for scorpio energy to
see into other’s souls, but wisdom comes from seeing into your own
soul clearly and truthfully. take this new moon to commit to seeing
yourself- your light and your shadow, your superficiality and your
depth- and own it. and then allow your transformation to unfold as
you release the old and embrace the new. and if you find yourself in
liminal space- between the old and new- relax and enjoy it. liminal
space has its wisdom to share, too
